Is it tacky to buy 16 inch black rims for my new 2006 Jeep Liberty?

June7

I don’t want to/can’t afford to buy new tires, but I don’t know if it would be tacky to have a nice hip rim but it only be 16’s instead of at least 18’s.

2006 Jeep Wrangler break question?

June5

Have had the Jeep since Jan 07 and don’t drive it to much back and forth to work, school and such. I July it started shaking really bad when I went to stop,it would stop just shook really bad. I had the front roters machined(covered under warrenty)in early Aug. Now in Oct it is doing the same thing. I have had the dealer and other car folks say it’s just dust from the road and such becaues we haven’t had any rain for a while and I should just wash the Jeep and it should be taken care of that way. Anyone eles ever heard of this working to stop the shaking when breaking?
I had the roters machined/turned in early August and the breakes were fine up until a few weeks ago.
After washing the wheels and tires last night and a heavy rain during the night and today they seem much better almost back to normal.
I can not afford to spend any extra money right now and the jeep is still under warrenty. Had 2005 Jeep Wrangler and never had any problems with it,guess I got a bad Jeep this time.

2006 Jeep Wrangler Death Wobble, Not sure what to do now?

June3

It happens around 40-50 mph, and not all the time, I have had 4 wheel alignment done, tires balanced, took it back to the dealer to have it checked (Track bar, stablizer bar, ect..ect..from reading these threads) The dealer said it was my tires, so today I am getting brand new tires, balanced, and another 4 wheel alignment, and if that doesn’t fix the problem I guess take it back to the dealer, who seemed clueless, and had never heard of such thing….but apparently its pretty common from reading these forums…

Has anyone really nailed down what causes it? I have read quite a few things, every once and a while, when we reach 40-50 mph, the front end starts shaking, steering wheel too, almost out of control like we blew a tire, and we have to slow down fast and pull over to get it to stop, its a pretty scary expereince, we love our jeep, but if after we get the new tires today, if it still happens, and the dealer can’t find any problems…I am not sure what to do?
Forgot to mention, we have NO lift, but we do have custom tires and 31’s, we bought the jeep like that from the dealer, suspension is all stock.
Should say custom wheel, and tires
Everything is Stock except the wheels and tires, havn’t done anything to suspension or replace anything, I told the dealer about all the Jeep Forums I had visited and told them to check the track bar and stablizer bar, but they said they checked everything and all was ok….So I am hoping that the tires are causing this death wobble, but we will see, Thanks to all those who replied…
I did rotate the tires, balanced them by two different shops and had an alignment done, and it still occured, so either someone didn’t balance or align correctly, or the dealer missed something on the check….I am getting brand new tires today, and getting a 4 wheel alignment done, so if I expereince it again, back to the dealer I go….and I will demand they check everything again…
