It happens around 40-50 mph, and not all the time, I have had 4 wheel alignment done, tires balanced, took it back to the dealer to have it checked (Track bar, stablizer bar, ect..ect..from reading these threads) The dealer said it was my tires, so today I am getting brand new tires, balanced, and another 4 wheel alignment, and if that doesn’t fix the problem I guess take it back to the dealer, who seemed clueless, and had never heard of such thing….but apparently its pretty common from reading these forums…
Has anyone really nailed down what causes it? I have read quite a few things, every once and a while, when we reach 40-50 mph, the front end starts shaking, steering wheel too, almost out of control like we blew a tire, and we have to slow down fast and pull over to get it to stop, its a pretty scary expereince, we love our jeep, but if after we get the new tires today, if it still happens, and the dealer can’t find any problems…I am not sure what to do?
Forgot to mention, we have NO lift, but we do have custom tires and 31’s, we bought the jeep like that from the dealer, suspension is all stock.
Should say custom wheel, and tires
Everything is Stock except the wheels and tires, havn’t done anything to suspension or replace anything, I told the dealer about all the Jeep Forums I had visited and told them to check the track bar and stablizer bar, but they said they checked everything and all was ok….So I am hoping that the tires are causing this death wobble, but we will see, Thanks to all those who replied…
I did rotate the tires, balanced them by two different shops and had an alignment done, and it still occured, so either someone didn’t balance or align correctly, or the dealer missed something on the check….I am getting brand new tires today, and getting a 4 wheel alignment done, so if I expereince it again, back to the dealer I go….and I will demand they check everything again…
