What is this little tube coming off the top of my engine? 95 jeep grand cherokee v6?

I have a 95 jeep grand cherokee. The 4.0 litre v6 engine. on the very far back of the engine there is an L shaped tube coming off of it with another tube leading off somewhere. I just noticed that tube isnt connected to that L shaped pipe. Any idea what that is? I havent seen something like that on any other engine.
Without seeing what you are talking about, I would guess it is something to do with your EGR valve, but I can’t be sure.
The crankcase ventilation system on a 4.0L does not use a pcv valve instead it uses some of vacuum from the engine. The missing rear hose connects to a vacuum port on the manifold. A diagram should be under the hood or you can check a manual. Good luck
its could be for the EGR valve…. but 95 is a bit old so it could possible be the PCV valve. But also it dependes on the size. Hmm could even just be a vacuum hose
C-Tech is correct. It is part of the CCV system (the 4.0L doesn’t use a PCV system). It is not part of the EGR system (that is connected to the manifolds, not the valve cover). Another note: the 4.0L is an inline 6, not a V6.
There is a crankcase vent line at the back of the valve cover that connects to the intake manifold. Engine vacuum pulls excess vapors out of the engine through this line.
If it is not connected you will have a serious vacuum leak on the manifold – unless the port is stopped up like a lot of them I have seen.
If this line is not working properly, you will sometimes see oil in the air filter box.
