Jeep is a division of Chrysler, since 1987, and was first founded in 1941. Its headquarters is located in Toledo, Ohio. Jeep is the longest running off-road Sport Utility Vehicle manufacturing company in the world with Land Rover close behind. Jeep’s Bantam BRC became the official vehicle of the United States military for World War II along with the allied forces. The Bantam BRC was a 4 wheel drive light vehicle and also used by the military following World War II. This vehicle was produced in Butler, Pennsylvania. Jeep didn’t stop there in producing vehicles for the United States military. In 1965 Jeep manufactured the M715 army truck for exclusive use in the Vietnam War. It weighed in at 1.25 tons.

As evidenced in World War II and Vietnam, the Jeep was designed for off-road purposes as well as civilian purposes on the highways. Most Jeep models can be equipped with roll bars, a winch and extra lights. The winch is to help pull the vehicle out of the mud or a hole if it gets stuck during an off-road adventure.

There are two events that promote Jeep and allow Jeep owners to showoff their vehicles. The first is the Jeep Jamboree. Jeep owners bring their family and friends to see other Jeeps on display, off-road competitions and trail exploration. No spectators are allowed at these events, only the registered owners and their guests. There are an estimated 30 Jamboree events scheduled for the 2008 year. The second event is called Camp Jeep. This is a three-day event that includes multiple activities such as kayaking, fishing, mountain biking/climbing, tubing and arts and crafts. Top bands from around the country are also invited to play at this fair. There are man-made courses for Jeeps to peruse as well as scenic trails. There are Jeep 101 courses offered for first-time drivers but there is no camping at Camp Jeep. Everyone stays at a hotel or another camp ground.

Presently, Jeep only produces six models. They are the Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep grand cherokee, the Jeep Liberty, the Jeep Commander, the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot. The Grand cherokee and the Liberty are family sized vehicles with the Commander able to seat seven passengers. The rest of the models are small Sport Utility Vehicles being able to seat two to four passengers.

Jeep has designed different concept vehicles since 1958 when they released the DJ-3A Pickup. The decade of the 1960s was the only decade that Jeep did not release a concept vehicle. Jeep produced four concept vehicles in the 1970s, three in the 1980s, 12 in the 1990s and 17 in the 2000s. One interesting tidbit about Jeep that not that many people know about is that Jeep also produced a special vehicle in the year 1936. That special vehicle produced by Jeep is known as the Oscar-Mayer Wienermobile. The Oscar-Mayer Wienermobile is the most recognizable vehicles on the road today and in commercials today. It has been used as the main advertisement for Oscar-Mayer since it was manufactured in 1936.

Roarin’ new engine and a lower price – what more could a guy want in a flashy new SUV? I can name a few things, but the 2011 Jeep grand cherokee has them all and then some! Jeep Portage dealers are raving about the all-new Grand cherokee and I can’t wait to take it for a drive! Positive changes abound and with its new 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 23 mpg, new Quadra-Lift Air Suspension and Selec-Terrain there are better levels of control. The exterior has been sculpted to be sleeker and the interior has four more inches of leg room, a big deal for a weekend with the guys.

Portage 2011 Jeep grand cherokee customers will also appreciate the new independent front and rear suspensions and added safety and security features as well as top-of-the-line technology. The Jeep Grand cherokee is in showrooms now and is priced at $32,995, $465 less than the outgoing model. The Laredo 4×2 model will start at $30,995.

The new body structure and suspension systems work together to reduce vibration and noise and provide a smoother ride. A duel-pane panoramic sunroof known as CommandView reaches from windshield to the rear of the SUV and will be perfect for enhancing weekend getaways or just letting in the sun on the way to the beach. With 17 percent more cargo room, the new grand cherokee will also hold all the gear we need to stuff in for the trip.

Fuel economy is up 11 percent from the previous model with one tank of gas getting you 500 miles down the road. Now, for those who say an SUV, especially a tricked-out model with a big price tag is not practical, they need to look at the numbers for the 2011 Jeep Grand cherokee and recalculate. Jeep Portage buyers will also be impressed with the added security and safety features which include full-length side-curtain and seat-mounted air bags, Active Head Restraints, Hill-start Assist., Trailer-sway control, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Warning and a blind-spot/rear cross-path detection system. Three models will be available for Portage 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee customers. The Laredo comes in 4×2 and 4×4 with many of the above features included as standard. The Limited also comes 4×2 or 4×4 and has front and second-row heated leather seats, memory settings, Bi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlights with SmartBeam, Parkview rear back-up camera, Parksense rear assist, auto temperature control, 18-inch aluminum wheels, rain-sensitive wipers and Garmin navigation.

The Overland model adds a few more amenities with Nappa leather-trimmed and heated seats, vented front seats, wood steering wheel with leather wrapping and memory, power tilt, telescopic steering column, leather-stitched instrument panel, center console and doors, power liftgate, wood bezels, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.

There is no doubt that Jeep wants its customers to have an extreme experience. Having said that, it should come as no surprise that Jeep grand cherokee has received more than a scintilla of attention from both automotive retailers and general magazines and websites on the subject. The site gives the same vehicle a “4×4 of the Year” and other awards. It performs well on highways as well as on rugged roads. It is also a mid-size vehicle with powerful engines.

The Grand Jeep cherokee was unveiled in 1983. Compared to other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokees looks like other cars. The compact size has been maintained since 2005. However, more features have been added since 2007. In 2007 new diesel engine options were added. Beginning in 2001, the Cherokee had a V8 five-speed automatic engine. In 2002, Jeep introduced three additional trim levels i. E.; Special edition, Sports, Overland, a 265 HP V8 and more features. The V8 engine was the better choice as it provided more power without much sacrifice in fuel economy compared to the six-cylinder.

Since this is a vehicle made by human beings it had some problems, like the 2005 model. The problems were door glass sticking, moaning, poor tracking, and acute radio signals. But the entire problem was resolved soon after launch. The cherokee paved the way for later models. Jeep was experimenting and developing a brand new car which would change the face of the industry. The Cherokee provided this opportunity. Later models like the Jeep Commander were much more stable and reliable.

The engine choices range from mild to wild, with the HEMI engine topping the charts at 320 Horsepower. It only costs a couple of miles per gallon over the 3. 7 liter V6 and 4. 7 liter V8 engines, but has better responses. In 2007, the cherokee 2007 came with a diesel engine option for customers, giving it quite a new level of speed, and improved mileage. The active suspension and fast-acting automatic four-wheel-drive is very helpful in negotiating hemi-spherical corners, where a lot of experience is needed. The Cherokee performed well on this front. Hemispheric corners cause considerable skidding and swing-out tails. Even without electronic doodads, the grand cherokee negotiated corners very well.

Various models would come into existence over time. As from 2007, later models were much improved. Like the ZJ series (1993-1998) – the Base model had a complete set of instruments, a cloth interior and par-for-the-course 5-speed manual transmission. The later WJ models (1999-2004) saw their spare tyres relocated from the side of the cargo compartment to underneath the floor. The WK models of 2004-2010 have 4-wheel drive and rear-seat DVD player as standard features.

Grand Jeep Cherokee was built in 1983. It’s a luxury car, which has been upgraded gradually as per the customer requirements. However the Jeep standard Jeep features are available as well.

The 2009 Jeep grand cherokee has more power features, as compared to its earlier models in terms of rear wheel drive, engine capacity, and fuel efficiency. The navigation and mobile satellite television features are optional. To improve safety, more features were added. These include antiskid, traction control, and curtain side airbags. The superb suspension is available in all models.

Jeep plans to release an advanced Grand Jeep Cherokee in 2011. The Cherokee has been superseded by the Jeep Commander. If the future model is to be anything classic, it should be better than the Commander. Jeep is happy with its current model. Already; new features have been added to the current model. The new model will come in many colours and features. The price is also reasonable. The price ranges from $30, 500. 00 to $45, 000. 00 and production will start in January, 2010. So, keep an eye if you are a Jeep fan

Tapping Mercedes technology and combining it with Dodge know-how and elegance will definitely create a new meaning to car manufacturing. This is the concept behind the partnership of two of the most sought-after automakers in the industry. Further, said partnership has developed a new version of a wagon named Magnum SRT8, which is designed to eliminate the stigma attached to its ancestors.

Dodge Magnum SRT8 is designed to radiate ‘can’t miss’ road presence. Dodge quality parts and attributes like suspensions, automatic transmissions, Brembos pinch huge 14.2-inch front rotors and 13.8-inch rears, aluminum wheels, rear differentials, 6.1-liter SRT-prepped HEMI underhood and road chemistry make Magnum SRT8 outstanding than other wagons. Dodge accessories, on the other hand, make the driving performance more comfortable. Behind its thick-rimmed steering wheel is a heavily bolstered racing-style leather seat. Side air curtains are also attached to provide coziness and extra style.

When it comes to potency, Magnum SRT8 is given plenty of engine choices. There is 2.7L V6 powering the SE and 3.5L V6 below the hood of the SXT. It can be recalled that Dodge has released Magnum SRT8 in the year 2005. Said model features a 6.1L Hemi V8 that is capable of producing an extraordinary 425 horses and 420 lb.-ft of torque.

Dodge Magnum SRT8 is made to create a fusion of muscle car and sport wagon to effectuate an untamable wagon. Furthermore, the recent addition in the Dodge vehicle clan is said to have eliminated the stigma attached to old station wagons. It comes with great performance and a not so sappy appearance.

The pride of Magnum includes its superb aftermarket parts. Its cooling system is made possible through the integration of Airaid and Dub Air technology. The two brands are famed for the creation of quality systems. Another worthy integration is its performance exhaust systems, which uses Magnaflow exhaust capable maximizing performance. Both the intake system and the exhaust system play key roles to promote Magnum’s visceral appeal and breathtaking performance.

Lamborghini Murcielagois the most fantastic, dramatic, extreme super car. If you want to make a statement, get a 200mph-plus Murcielago. Even Ferraris pale into the background alongside it – particularly if it’s one of the famous vivid yellow ones. It was launched way back in 2001, as the first Lamborghini to be developed under Audi ownership. This in itself was significant, because it meant the company could call upon all the German brand’s expertise in quality and reliability. Previous Lamborghinis were known as being a bit fragile and temperamental; this car marked the turning point.

Extreme in every way sums up the mighty Murcielago. The first cars came with a huge 6.2-litre V12 engine that produced 580hp at high revs. It sounds like nothing else, particularly in the upper ranges, and I know people who buy it for the noise it makes alone.

A complex four-wheel drive transmission distributed this power, through either a six-speed manual or semi-automatic gearbox. The former can be hard work, so buyers often prefer the latter. I always warn them to buy as late as possible though. Lamborghini was constantly improving the set-up of the E-Gear system, eventually honing it into a very impressive set-up.

The styling of a largely carbon-fibre body is just incredible. This is why people buy the Murcielago. It’s big, extreme, wide, low, and aggressive – it looks like a Stealth fighter, particularly when the scissor-type doors are swung up and open. At speed, the fighter jet analogy continues, as two air intakes electronically fold out of the side rear panels – a fantastic touch. There’s also an electronic pop-up rear wing.

Inside, it’s not quite an Audi in its control layout – here; the Gallardo is better and more modern. But Lamborghini didn’t do a bad job, and it’s a lot better than the Diablo. It’s still rather tight for space in there, though, and it remains only a two-seater. Being 6ft 4in myself, I can fit snuggly in the coupe but look a bit like noddy in the spider!

Of course, if you think this is extreme, wait until you see the Roadster model, which came in 2004. This was Lamborghini’s answer to owners who were calling for even more ‘show’ with the first open-top Lambo for a decade, they really could expose themselves.

It’s hardly a practical option though. The roof is incredibly complicated to fit and remove – and, unbelievably, the car can’t be driven at more than 100mph with the roof up. It’s normally the other way around, which means the market for this model is even more specialist.

While the early 6.2-litre cars are the cheapest, buyers prefer the 2006 models if they can stretch to it. This was the year the Murcielago’s V12 was boosted to 6.5 litres, and 640bhp. These cars can be found by their new name – Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, with LP standing for ‘Lontitudinari Posteriari ‘referring to the rear-mid in-line position of the engine.

The LP models received a slight facelift front and rear, and Lamborghini also restyled the interior with some Audi-like quality and usability improvements. There was a better stereo – and, for when music was not enough, a new exhaust to create even more noise. The seats were repositioned as well, to try and carve out a bit more room inside. Oh, and there were more tweaks to the semi-auto and suspension.

One function the crowd conscious driver likes is the Launch Control device that came on this edition. Basically, this allows people to conduct the perfect standing start, guaranteeing to hit 60mph in the claimed 3.4 seconds. This is hard on the clutch and transmission, so cars fitted with it should be investigated carefully. But there’s no denying the showy nature of the car makes it a nice addition!

There was also a very desirable option copied from Ferrari – a glass cover for the mighty engine. Buyers love it. The last in the line and the most extreme Murcielago is the one that makes the most incredible poster car – the extreme LP 670-4 SuperVeloce – the Murcielago SV. This has 670bhp, weighs 100kg less, the option of a massive racecar-like rear wing, exotic materials, and even the option of matt paint. The market for these is small but, for some, it’s the only choice.

Mind you, while the Murcielago has huge emotional appeal, it actually has very little retail appeal. Very few are sold – it’s the ultimate supercar from its looks, engine and concept, but this sheer exclusivity works against it on the used market. The Spyder is virtually impossible to sell. When the soft-top demands 20 minutes to put up and down – well, car buyers view it with similar regard to an old Jeep Wrangler.

Therefore, the Murcielago really is usually the fifth or sixth car in their collection. For these people, buying one involves emotion, the world’s finest V12, and the scissor doors, why else is there an entire industry now devoted to converting Gallardos to get these door hinges! It will always hold a special place for me, but commercially, as a car dealer, you can’t justify it. Very, very few dealers are now willing to put their own money into one. We at Clive Sutton offer a wide range of new and used Lamborghini for sale. We deal across the UK and can look after your Lamborghini Murcielago car buying or selling requirements wherever you are located.

The above is extracted from a 68 page luxury car market report that can be found on www.clivesutton.co.uk.
