While the early 6.2-litre cars are the cheapest, buyers prefer the 2006 models if they can stretch to it. This was the year the Murcielago’s V12 was boosted to 6.5 litres, and 640bhp. These cars can be found by their new name – Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, with LP standing for ‘Lontitudinari Posteriari ‘referring to the rear-mid in-line position of the engine.

The LP models received a slight facelift front and rear, and Lamborghini also restyled the interior with some Audi-like quality and usability improvements. This is hard on the clutch and transmission, so cars fitted with it should be investigated carefully. But there’s no denying the showy nature of the car makes it a nice addition!

There was also a very desirable option copied from Ferrari – a glass cover for the mighty engine. Buyers love it. The last in the line and the most extreme Murcielago is the one that makes the most incredible poster car – the extreme LP 670-4 SuperVeloce – the Murcielago SV. This has 670bhp, weighs 100kg less, the option of a massive racecar-like rear wing, exotic materials, and even the option of matt paint. The market for these is small but, for some, it’s the only choice.

Mind you, while the Murcielago has huge emotional appeal, it actually has very little retail appeal. Very few are sold – it’s the ultimate supercar from its looks, engine and concept, but this sheer exclusivity works against it on the used market. The Spyder is virtually impossible to sell. When the soft-top demands 20 minutes to put up and down – well, car buyers view it with similar regard to an old Jeep Wrangler.

Therefore, the Murcielago really is usually the fifth or sixth car in their collection. For these people, buying one involves emotion, the world’s finest V12, and the scissor doors, why else is there an entire industry now devoted to converting Gallardos to get these door hinges! Annual sales of the Jeep Commander have not been impressive. Jeep recorded a poor performance on its Commander model in February 2007. The Commander sales went down by 24%. After the traumatic 2006 sales fall, automakers are all aimed at putting their best foot forward to get the larger slice of the auto market. The Cadillac Escalade is now being challenged by the first full-size SUV of Mercedes. The latter is a seven-seat SUV with upscale auto features that include air suspension and adjustable ride height. The vehicle can be lowered automatically at speed for a more capable ride.

According to critics in the industry, the overhauled Cadillac Escalade, which was introduced just last year, has the nicest interior among the vehicles in the United States. The Cadillac Escalade uses all-aluminum 6.2 L Vortec V8 mated to Cadillac cold air intake. The vehicle also featured the new six-speed 6L80 automatic transmission and conventional five-link suspension to improve its performance and ride.

Mercedes Benz was quick to follow Cadillac with the plush, full-size GL-Class SUV which is priced at $53,000. Mercedes recorded 19,000 sales of the vehicle in 2006. The new Mercedes pride radiates improved performance than that of the R-Class. The GL and the Escalade are among the best SUVs of 2007. However, in the fourth season of this year, mighty rivals are expected to take the limelight.

One of the forthcoming catchy SUVs is the Spyker D12 dubbed as the world’s only exotic sport utility vehicle. The Dutch-built SUV is capable of generation 500-horsepower maximum output. Enthusiasts are now excited about the arrival of the one-of-a-kind vehicle.

The Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler experience a three percent decrease in passenger-car sales while trucks and SUVs declined by eight percent. At General Motors, car sales declined seven percent, while truck and SUV sales declined by around nine or ten percent.

Among Detroit automakers, the Ford Motor Co. reported the most debilitating decrease in sales in the previous year. Ford’s car sales rose five percent while truck and SUVs decreased by fourteen percent. Ford has this to say: “higher gasoline prices and long-term demographic trends drove SUV sales lower, and a soft housing industry weighed on full-size truck sales.”

However, after just a couple of months, Ford’s sales are making a swift turnaround. The arrival of the new crossover SUVs like the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX gradually changes the company’s picture.

General Motors Corporation’s GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook are helping the company a bit. The automaker reported that the Acadia and Outlook “drove a 97 percent retail increase in the mid-crossover segment” in February, compared with that time the year before.

Chrysler Group’s new SUVs like the redesigned Jeep Wrangler have also yielded warm welcome. Experts say these new, car-like SUVs, plus steadier gas prices, could serve 2007 a better year for SUV manufacturers.

In Ford’s January statement, the automaker blamed the declining truck and SUV sales on gas prices, demographic trends and the housing industry. The company said: “Ford believes these factors will continue to weigh on these segments in 2007.”

GM sales down four percent

The General Motors Corp. reported 307,554 U.S. light vehicle sales in April, and that number is down by 9.5 percent from the sales of 339,796 during the same month the previous year. In addition, retail sales decreased by four percent, not adjusted for selling days, with truck sales down three percent and car sales at six percent.

The automaker said that about two-thirds of its sales decline was due to a planned reduction in less profitable daily rental sales. GM has slashed its daily rental sales by over 83,000 vehicles in the first four months of the year as it to shift from a focus on selling more vehicles than its competition to selling vehicles that come with hefty profits.

“I would say it’s fair to assess the industry… to say it was a bit challenging for the month,” said Paul Ballew, GM’s chief market analyst. “The final numbers are not as severe as some observers were forecasting.” Notwithstanding the cut in the overall April sales, GM executives said they continued to see strength in its newly launched vehicles, including the new GMC Acadia and the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado pickups.

Jerry Seiner, famed as the GM Guy in Salt Lake City, said that sales were good in his market, but he readily acknowledged that his market is doing better than the nation right now. “We have some growth that might be assisting us in overcoming the market,” he said. “We’re going to be five to six percent up this year on GM sales.” But he didn’t think his fellow domestic dealers would see those kinds of gains. “You have uncertainty,” he said. “It’s uncertainty in the rest of the market.”

Toyota sales dip four percent

Another auto giant to suffer a four percent dip in April is the Toyota Motor Corporation. Sales of the Japanese automaker fell to 210,457. By far, it is Toyota’s first monthly decline in almost two years. For the first time since May 2005, Toyota sold fewer vehicles in the United States in a calendar month than it did a year earlier, spokesman Xavier Dominicis said.

The Camry and the Corolla, Toyota’s stalwart sedans, both took hits as compared to the same month last year, and sales of the Camry, the top-selling car in the United States, dropped by six percent to 37,911 units sold. Sales of the Corolla, which increased in 2006 as the cost of gas climbed, fell by eleven percent to 32,289 units.

Scion, Toyota’s small-car brand, also saw double-digit percentage declines for each of its three models. The all-new Tundra was a bright spot for Toyota with sales up 61 percent to 14,200 vehicles for the month.

Ford sales dive 13 percent

The Ford Motor Company’s sales fell 13 percent in April as compared to the same month last year, and only two of the company’s six brands, Lincoln and Land Rover, posted gains. For the year, Ford sales are now off by 13.2 percent.

“It was pretty consistently weak throughout the month,” said George Pipas, Ford’s top sales analyst, during a conference call with journalists. “The entire industry was very weak,” Pipas added. “It kind of raises the question of what does the future hold.”

Ford previously warned that sales were below expectations for the industry and the Dearborn-based automaker, which recently posted a $282-million loss for the first three months of the year. But he thinks Ford will maintain its 13% retail market share, nonetheless.

If only the Extang tonneau could camouflage the industry’s doldrums, recuperation could be had. Unfortunately, it is not as easy as it sounds.

Chrysler sales creep two percent

The American arm of the DaimlerChrysler AG reported a two percent increase in sales for the month of April as compared to the same month last year. The Chrysler Group sold 193,104 vehicles last month compared to the 190,095 units sold in April 2006.

“Chrysler Group increased sales in April based on a solid retail performance – despite two less selling days than in the previous year and a challenging market environment,” said Steven Landry, the executive vice president of NAFTA sales, global marketing, service and parts. “Driven by the continuously strong Jeep Wrangler and the new Jeep Patriot, sales for the Jeep brand were up significantly by 29 percent.”

Last August, Ford announced that they will be recalling their 3.6 million vehicles, mostly in the truck segment from the 1990s model years. The massive recalls were due to defects in the speed control deactivation switch. Similarly, brake light problems have resulted in Volkswagen recalling 1,000,000 units of the Volkswagen Beetle from 2001 to 2007 model years making it the most recalled vehicle model for the year. For Toyota, the 2004-2006 Tundra and the 2004-2007 Sequoia were recalled due to problems in the lower ball joint on the vehicle’s front suspension.

These past few years, almost all automaker have issued vehicle recalls. “Now almost any time you pick up a newspaper, there is a recall,” said Tom Libby, senior director of industry analysis at J.D. Power & Associates in Troy, Michigan.

Even a Ferrari worth $168,000 is not an exception to defective vehicles. In the early months of 2007, the Italian luxury sports car maker recalled 216 of its 2005 and 2006 models of the F430 coupe and spider models. The vehicles were detected to have faulty clutch pumps. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the defect “could result in a reduction in a driver’s ability to shift gears while driving and result in a crash.”

We may wonder that if every year, vehicle quality is upgraded, then why are recalls also rising? According to auto experts, the incidents are due to automakers sharing platforms and parts, therefore increasing the chances that a defective part be used in various models causing problems to all of it. On the other side, Libby said that recalls could be taken as a sign that the automakers are exerting extra efforts to solve vehicle problems, thereby protecting its consumers.

Recalls can be a stain to a vehicle’s brand and model. It may give the consumers the idea that they bought a “lemon” and it is known to all that recalls can be ammunition to product liability attorneys for lawsuits.

“This stuff gets amplified a great deal because there are certain lawyers waiting to use this information, and they are out there actively looking for new business on a class action basis,” VW spokesman Keith Price said.

This year the most recalled vehicles are: Volkswagen New Beetle (with Volkswagen Beetle distributor rotor), Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, Jeep Liberty, Nissan Altima, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro, Suzuki Forenza and Reno, Volkswagen Passat and Passat Wagon, Lexus ES 350 and Chrysler Sebring.

I recently recieved a credit card amendment stating that my inconstant apr’s will be increasing from 8.25% points to 27.99% (is this the interest?)due to something they saw on my credit report which they’re not specifing? I heard within was a path to dispute things on your credit report. First, tell me if I enjoy grounds to do so. And if so, how do I do it.I have a sear card that had a be a foil for that I knew the exact ammount by calling and asking. I transfered this to a different card surrounded by full. I hold no late payments and nil balances on adjectives my credit history except 2, those balances arent dignified. Now i know looking at your credit report takes points away from your ranking. What can i do to make my chalk up higher and promptly?

My credit card balances be lowering and didnt know why? I got my credit report from experian. The article is I have a twin sis near a similar name example- aziz and aziza. I call they said we will send a clean report ! Is this experians fault ? My amex credit go down from 2,000 to 800 a month? Can amex change it spinal column? What can I do ..Thanks for the help !

Ok.. i have other got my own loans from SallieMae because i’ve never have a co-signer and my credit is good. Well i applied for my end loan for my last semester of university and i was denied unless i have a co signer. I have no clue why so i call and they said to check my credit report. My report was adjectives positive except 4 medical bills that have be there the integral time. If i were to payment these bills of do you think it be help my win so i can get my ending loan? I’m just worried i won’t know how to graduate. The last loan i get was within Jan so maybe time have something to do with it and i should keep on to apply again. How long will it take for the medical bills to be removed if i pay cheque them? I’m really worried.

I have only just paid bad all my credit cards ( roughly speaking $3,000) .They all enjoy zero balance now.Also I remunerated off something that I have monthly payments on , which I paid bad early the set off was $1,200 .How much can I expect my credit chalk up to go up beside these changes? Also when i pulled my credit report here was a exotic collection on there , that a moment ago came on nearby 10 days ago . But is for a really old bill that I didnt know I have , the collection is $26 .Should I dispute it as I was never informed of the debt , so i was not given the opportunity to wage before it go to collections. If I dispute it how much points can I expect to lose on my credit score?

I have reliable credit except for a default of 1200.00 on a common account which i co-signed for a few years ago. at the time he be my fiance and he totalled his car and the insurance covered everything but 1200 bucks. i never received a communication about this debt-i discovered it when i pulled my own credit report. not long i have be harrassed by a credit agency that is threatening that i’ll never be capable of finance anything if i don’t wages this money. quite honestly i probably own the cash but the thought of paying for any more penny of my deadbeat ex’s debt (i paid bad 2000 that was charged on collective credit cards)makes me sick. i think i’d almost prefer discouraging credit as long as i can still get student loans. does anyone know roughly student loans and credit? also, when does the 7 years start? from the time of the first missed payment? from the time something is ‘charged off’? or the time something is referred to collections?

i went to the hospital surrounded by 2001. I paid the hospital bill. i looked at my credit report and saw a hospital charge. i call the collection agency and they explained to me that i paid the hospital bill but not the doctor’s services. they said they sent me a missive in 2001 and call me several times. they also stated i called them surrounded by 2004 and told them i would pay them. around that time is when i compensated the hospital. they said it’s been on my credit report since 2002 but removed it and added it fund on in 10/2006. it be never on my credit reprt. i want to pay them but how do i go and get it off my report because i have no clue that i did not pay them.

Credit Report – how to update information? find out what things are?
ok so i just saw my credit report.. and at hand a few things on there that i don’t know what thay are. approaching. $24 for this and $97 for that. I’d love to pay them past its sell-by date, if i knew what they heck within were for. and it doesn’t give a hand that they are from a few years ago.. how do i go around finding out what stuff is?also.. my credit is pretty low. and being that i don’t enjoy any large debts, i reflect that this may slightly be becuase my information is wrong. GM sales slashed by 9.5 percent, and Ford dived 13 percent from April 2006, pulled decreasing sales of big pickup trucks. Toyota fell by 4.3 percent, for its first monthly decrease in two years. Additionally, the Honda Motor Co., Ltd. reported a 9.1 percent decline. It seems that even Highland mats could not camouflage the auto sales spill.

Among the auto giants, only DaimlerChrysler AG, the German automaker, posted a gain. Industry sales fell by 7.6 percent. By far, the figure is Daimler’s biggest decline of the year and the third in four months. Analysts in the industry have forecast the April slide, citing the rise of gasoline prices, a weak housing market in the United States, waning consumer confidence and curb in sales to rental fleets.

“Gas prices are clearly a big issue,” as is consumer confidence in general, said Alan Baum, the director of automotive forecasting at Planning Edge in Birmingham, Michigan. “So we’re seeing people starting to hold back.”

In April this year, there were only 24 selling days, two fewer than the prior year. Bloomberg and other automakers report unadjusted comparisons, which are approximately eight percentage points lesser than the percentages based on adjusted figures.

DaimlerChrysler, led by Chrysler Group’s Jeep brand, had a surprise one percent increase. Asian automakers collectively sold 529,808 vehicles in the United States last month and that amount is a 7.9 percent cut from that of 2006. In addition, sales of all Asian automakers decline except for the Mitsubishi Motors Corp., which reported an eleven percent gain.

In April, a total of 1.34 million vehicles were sold, pulling sum for the year 2.9 percent lower than the same period last year. Analysts in the industry consider the sales doldrums a big threat to GM’s, Ford’s and Chrysler’s turnaround plans that are designed to cope from losses in the previous year. Each is cutting production, reducing costs, slashing jobs, and closing plants to recover. Some automakers have trimmed low-profit sales to rental-car companies, which purchase in bulk at a discount.

“It’s definitely shaping up to be the weakest month of the year,” said Jim Sourges, a Detroit-based analyst for the Paris consulting firm Cap Gemini SA. “The question is, will it continue? I think it’s too soon to tell.”

Ford, the second-biggest Detroit automaker, earlier adjusted its incentive program for May and June. The adjusted program includes a choice of five-year, no-interest loans or a $3,000 rebate on the F-150 pickup truck. Chrysler, on the other hand, is offering five-year, interest-free loans or rebates of as much as $5,000 on most of its product lines.

In April, GM’s sales of light vehicles declined to 307,554, paced by a fourteen percent decline in its best-selling vehicle – the Chevrolet Silverado large pickup. Car sales for the biggest American automaker dropped ten percent.

GM’s retail sales, excluding those to fleet customers, fell about four percent, without a sales-day adjustment, the automaker’s sales analyst, Paul Ballew, said on a conference call. The average transaction price rose by $1,000, and incentives fell by about $350 to $2,500 per car and truck, and this would be meaning more profit per vehicle, Ballew said. “A strong labor market and other positive economic factors are helping offset housing declines in markets such as California and Boston. I expect GM retail sales to be stable. It’s not clear whether GM will be able to boost its retail share for the year.”

Lincoln and Land Rover are the only divisions of Ford that posted sales gains in April, with increases of 6.9 percent and 13 percent, respectively. All Ford-brand vehicles had sales declines, except for the Expedition sport-utility vehicle and Crown Victoria sedan.

Toyota’s two most popular vehicles, the Corolla and Camry, combined for an 8.1 percent sales decline, the Toyota City, Japan-based company said. Honda’s car sales fell 14 percent, including an 8.5 percent reduction for the Accord sedan.

The Chrysler’s two percent gain to 193,104 vehicles was greatly influenced by the 29 percent gain of its Jeep brand, including a 75 percent increase in Wrangler SUV sales.

According to Bloomberg data, car and light-truck sales dropped to an annual rate of 16.3 million. The rate in April 2006 was 16.7 million.
