What is the best engine oil filter for my 2007 Jeep Wrangler?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in 2007 wrangler by admin

I am wanting to start doing my own oil changes on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and I want to use Mobil 1 Synthetic oil and the best filter I can buy.

Smart man, I started using Mobil 1 after I graduated from collage and I’ve put over 250K on my truck. I recently tried to overhaul it, but when I tore it down, nothing was wore out.

It’s not the filter that really important as it is the oil you use. Just don’t go by a cheap off the wall filter. Usually most all your parts store brands will work fine.
Hope this helps!

How does a grand cherokee compare to a jeep wrangler in off roading?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in wrangler by admin

The GC is a little bit longer and wider wheelbase so does that make it better than the wrangler for trailing and mudding?

wranglers are better simply because of the short wheel base and size of them. not to bash cherokees they are definitly a close 2nd.

How do you install windows in a jeep wrangler hardtop?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in wrangler by admin

I have a 1997 jeep wrangler. I purchased a hardtop that needs windows installed in it. I have purchased used windows. How do you install the windows in this hardtop?

Short answer: I recommend taking it to an auto glass shop or a Jeep dealership. If you have the glass already, the installation should be fairly inexpensive.

The procedure is covered in detail in the factory service manual (a very good investment for any do-it-yourself Jeep owner, and not too expensive on ebay). Glass installation is not trivial. I’ll try to condense the instructions here:

1. Trim the urethane from the opening, leaving a 3mm level base. Place glass in the opening and make sure it fits and seats against the level urethane. Make alignment marks with a grease pencil

2. Remove the glass to a workbench, lay flat, inside-up.

3. Clean the glass with ammonia-based glass cleaner, then clean outer edge of glass with naphtha

4. Apply molding to perimeter of glass with butt-weld in the molding at the bottom center of the glass.

5. Apply "glass prep" adhesion promotor 1" wide around perimeter of glass, wipe with lint-free cloth until no streaks.

6. Apply "glass primer" 1" wide around perimeter of glass. Allow 3 minutes or more drying time

7. Apply "pinchweld" primer 3/4" wide around the quarter glass fence (on the hard top). Allow 3 minutes or more drying time

8. Apply a 0.4" diameter bead of urethane to the center of the quarter glass fence surface area. (I quoted this instruction directly). Go to step 9 immediately – you only 10-15 minutes before the urethane starts to cure.

9. Align the glass with the grease pencil marks and push inward "until the reveal molding is seated on the hardtop." Don’t push so hard that too much adhesive squeezes out.

10. Open windows and liftgate while urethane cures to avoid pressure buildup. Apply 2" masking tape strips every 10". After urethane cures, remove tape strips and water-test.

Where are the best places to find deals on Jeep Wranglers?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in wranglers by admin

I have heard that there are numerous dealerships that are closing their doors because of the economy. Does this mean that they are going to have to get rid of all of their inventory? If so, that would suggest that there are going to be deals. Where should I be looking to be sure that I do not miss out on any deals for the Wranglers?

at any auction house in any state, if not at any local junk yard where the jeep is no longer working properly.

Is there any available stereo wiring harnesses or install dash mounts for 2007 Jeep Wranglers?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in wranglers by admin

I was told that Scosche did not offer any aftermarket stereo wiring harnesses or any stereo mounting kits for the new Jeep Wranglers due to the fact that the factory stereo’s wiring was completely different than previous models. Is this true and is there any company that might be up to speed with producing a harness or mounting kit at this time. Also, would this be available soon?

How’s it going? I hope this site will help you find the answer your looking for. My best friend works here. All you have to do is click your type of vehicle, model, and year. Then you can see the dash kits wiring harness and whatever is available. I hope this helps.

How is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 in snow and bad weather?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in grand cherokee by admin

I am thinking about buying the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, I am aware of its amazing power and acceleration, but is it built like all the other jeeps? How is it in the snow and bad weather? And I see that its a 4×4, but is that full time or can you put it in 4×4 low? Thanks.

The SRT8 Grand Cherokee is AWD, not 4WD. There is no lockable 4WD mode. If all you are doing it city driving, you should have no trouble.

It does have very large, wide tires that will push the snow instead of cut thru it, but I dont think you are buying this vehicle to really drive it in mud or snow, are you.

And to the moron who said by a Ford…I would put the capabilities of a Jeep against any Ford SUV and see who gets to the top of the mountain first. JEEP = 4X4. Always has, always will.
